Christiana Care Health System, with locations in Wilmington and Newark, ! DE, is one of the largest health care providers in the Mid-Atlantic Region, serving all of Delaware and portions of seven counties bordering the state in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.
Christiana PACU is currently recruiting for a Patient Care Technician II to work 2pm -10:30pm Monday-Friday, every other Weekend and one holiday per year.
As a Patient Care Technician II you will perform hygiene/comfort measures and selected nursing procedures for patients under the supervision and direction of the professional nurse. Additionally, you will be required to be proficient in carrying out all clerical duties associated with the unit clerk job responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities:
Candidate must respond to patient crisis situation and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities. Coordinating and performing clerical functions for the nursing unit. Performing finger sticks on adult patients, following all standa! rd laboratory safety policies and responding with promptness, ! empathy and interest to needs of patients.
Knowledge and Skills:
You must demonstrate proper use of telephone, paging system and nurse call system. Demonstrate competency using required computer skills including order entry, admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and ordering of tests. Communicate to patients, employees, and physicians utilizing courteous verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent. Previous work experience as a PCTII. Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
