Responsible and accountable for the effecti! ve overall management of a nursing unit amid the provision of quality nursing care to all residents.
Position includes every other weekend and full benefits package
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions
Practices professional nursing that is consistent with the Department of Nursing philosophy, objectives and standards.
Participates in the interdisciplinary care approach to patients/residents and families.
Assesses the competence and performance of nursing staff as related to position description, standards of care and facility policies,.
Assists in maintaining safety and cleanliness in the work area.
Participates in the quality assessment and improvement process and activities.
Organizes and monitors human and material resources necessary for meeting the needs of the designated nursing unit.
Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility policies.
Initiates emergen! cy support measures, (i.e., CPR, protects patients/residents f! rom injury).
Provides patient/resident/caregiver education as necessary.
Maintains confidentiality and patient/resident rights, regarding all patient/resident/personnel information.
Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use, i.e., monitors, infusion devices, drain devices, etc.
Directs, supervises and assists care given by other nursing personnel.
