The Nutrition Care Assistant performs a variety of duties related to receiving and processing special diet orders, to include modifying patient menus to multiple diet restr! ictions and preferences.
Responsible for identifying appropriate menu choices for all age groups, fluid restrictions, diet restrictions, food and beverage consistencies.
May be required to assist with other food service related duties as necessary.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree in Nutrition, or basic nutrition classes preferred.
Experience:
Must have six (6) months healthcare food service experience either in a nursing home or hospital.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
Must have basic computer literacy.
Must be able to calculate tube feeding requirements, fluid restrictions, carbohydrate counting, calorie counting and other diet modifications.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with nursing, unit clerks.
Must be able to be trained in basic medical terminology, ph! one etiquette, conflict resolution, holiday meal planning and ! inventory ordering procedures for nutrition supplements.
