As a certified nursing assistant, you are directly responsible for nursing care given to residents under the supervision of licenses staff.Job Functions: The primary purpose is to provide! each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the residents assessment and care plan. Take and record heights and weights, vital signs as assigned Assist residents in maintaining activities of daily living (personal hygiene, bathing, oral care. foot and nail care, skin care, dressing) Pass meal trays and assist residents as needed with meals, feed if required Pass nourishments and ice water Escort residents to meals, activities and appointments if assigned Record intake and output Assist residents with toil! eting needs Assist residents with transfers (beds, wheelchairs! , gerichairs) Answer call bells in a timely manner Keep residents room(s) and service areas clean, orderly and safe Distribute and change linens as needed Provide range of motion and ambulation. Turn and reposition residents as needed. Help maintain privacy and personal dignity of residents Provide postmortem care to deceased residents Communicate changes in resident condition to licensed staff Complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner (ADL flow books, meal percentages, behavior sheets, etc.) Participate in in-services, training, and meetings Every two (2) hour rounds and safety checks as needed Other duties as assigned by licensed staff
Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description Physical Requirements: Working Conditions Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e. drug rooms, nurses stations, residents rooms, etc.). Sit, stands, bends, lift, and moves intermittently during working hours. Subject to frequent interruptions. Involved! with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/ personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members and visitors. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel and other department personnel. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Attends and participates in continuing education programs. Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants and other air contaminants. Subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc., including TB, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. Subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Physical and Sensory Requirements(With or Without! the Aid of Mechanical Devices) Must be able to move intermittently thr! oughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must possess the ability to handle difficult/negative situations/people Must be able to work long hours Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace Must possess the ability to seek out new methods/principles and incorporate into existing nursing practices Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, visitors, vendors and support agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which m! ay include a medical and physical examination. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly and emotionally upset. Must be able to push, pull move, and/or lift a minimum of 50lbs. to a minimum of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 5 feet. Education - Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalentMust possess a current Certification in the state of Delaware
