Christiana Care is centrally located from major cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
This is a full time position, 10 hour shifts, Day/Evening rotation, every third weekend.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To function in a collaborative environment with Physicians in the direct care of patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates a strong consistent nursing presence in all phases of patient illnesses
- Reviews and retrieves data pertinent to patient’s medical history
- Performs and records physical assessment in response to consult and collaborates with physicians and oth! er members of the medical staff
- Screens patients to d! etermine need for urgent medical attention
- Evaluates patient condition and changes pathway in patient therapy if required
- Writes orders and modifies treatment plans as patient condition requires
- Prescribes medications with credentials provided by the Joint Practice Committee of the Delaware Board of Medical Practice
- Provides education and instructions to patients regarding self-care and disease process
- Plan and writes appropriate discharge plans for patient population
- Assesses medical device / procedure sites, including performing dressing changes, staple removal or suture removal as required
- Actively participates in other aspects of Cardiology special oriented care such as, monitor stress tests if required
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violat! ions that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors
- If working with Electrophysiology patients:
- Performs accurate interpretation of data and device programming and reprogramming as indicated based on this data interpretation and patients clinical status
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Master’s degree as an Advance Practice Nurse
- Basic Life Support Certification
