To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no ! other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospita! l will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
A registered nurse who is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and providing care to the operating room patient. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
Essential Responsibilities
Assesses and documents initial and ongoing patient needs and problems.
Formulates nursing plan based on patient needs and surgical intervention planned.
Responds promptly and positively to patients and associates; respects confidentiality of patients and co-workers.
Provides a clean, quiet and secure operating room.
Follows cost control practices. Monitors usage of supplies and! equipment to eliminate waste.
Demonstrates sterile technique and has excellent working knowledge of instrumentation and operating room equipment.
Understands congenital heart disease malformations and cardiac surgical interventions.
Demonstrates proficiency in the surgical care of all age groups: neonates, infants, toddlers, school-aged, adolescents and adults.
Education, Training and Experience
Operating Room experience, perferrably in cardiac and/or pediatrics.
Must be a strong scrubbing and circulating OR nurse.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Delaware.
