Provides high quality nursing care for office patients in accordance with current nursing standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs nursing interview and assessment upon admission and documents according to flow sheet, as well as on going assessment as indicated by patient status.

2. Responsible for demonstration and education in procedures performed in Family Medicine, responsible for maintaining competencies of staff in procedures as well as providing oversight of procedural area.

3. Identifies appropriate patient problems using accepted nursing diagnosis and appropriate nursing interventions and goals.

4. Recognizes an emergency and initiates proper plan of action. Demonstrates competency in the use o! f emergency equipment, presents pertinent verbal reports of em! ergencies, and effectively delegates responsibilities to other staff members and ancillary personnel during an emergency.

5. Demonstrates effective time management, flexibility and priority setting in patient care.

6. Attends and participates in unit staff meetings. Utilizes staff meetings and other appropriate channels to resolve problems.

7. Properly handles, labels, and routes to appropriate labs, specimens obtained during procedures, assume responsibility for oversight of lab safety and acts as liaison for the department and laboratory.

8. Will conduct thorough, individualized needs assessment with the participation of the patient, family, or support systems, when appropriate, prior to the development of the education plan and intervention.

9. Documentation of the delivery of education, behavioral strategies and patient goals; evaluation and documentation of effectiveness with modification where appropriate.

10. Trac! ks and maintains data base of clinical and behavioral outcomes.

11. Communicates with the primary care provider the progress and outcomes from the education experience.

12. Responsible for participating in community outreach offerings as well as support groups which will be held after regular working hours periodically throughout the year.

13. Will research and develop patient education materials and personalized education plans for medical diseases and injury.

14. Develops and presents educational in-services for staff and Family Medicine Residents.

15. Collaborates with faculty in regards to Family Medicine Resident education and curriculum, provides over sight of residents while in clinic. Participates in resident evaluations by providing feedback to faculty.

16. Computer skills required for documentation of education and development of new materials.

17. Assist in the orientation of new employees and acts as! preceptor when appropriate.

18. May be required to do other n! ursing duties that fall within the Family Medicine practice.

19. Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate.
