To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no othe! r in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital wi! ll include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the primary care pediatrics practices as directed by providers. The position is responsible for patient flow and assisting providers as necessary with examinations, procedures and administration of immunizations that are adapted to the patient's development stage.
Performs patient assessments.
Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint).
Assists providers with procedures, including, but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, gyn exams and catheterizations.
Performs phlebotomy, via venipuncture or capillary techniques, to obtain blood specimens. Transcribes, collects, labels and arranges transport for lab ! specimens. Performs back office laboratory tests.
Administers immunizations, oral and/or injectable medications. Administers PPD and interprets results.
Orders and stocks appropriate inventory of medical-surgical supplies for lab and exam rooms.
Triages patient calls utilizing delineated protocols under the supervision of the provider.
Provides age and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents and adults.
Monitors patient flow, including preparing patients and rooms for physicals and sick visits.
Hours are 8am to 5pm with rotation to evenings and weekend coverage possible. Must be flexible with work hours.
Requirements
Pediatric experience preferred.
Must have an active DE Nursing license.
Outpatient experience preferred.
BSN preferred.
