POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of all nursing staff and nursing support staff to assu! re quality care to all residents.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with State & Federal regulations that govern Long Term Care
Responsible for interviewing/hiring/counseling/terminations/evaluations/scheduling of and coordinating monthly meetings for CNA staff.
Participate in state and federal inspections and follow-up activities. Assist with developing and implementing corrective action plans when deficiencies are identified
Distribute meetings from monthly meetings.
Participation in New Hire Employee Orientation
Coordinate/oversee Restorative Program/staff
Conduct daily compliance rounds and make facility rounds at least at the beginning and end of shift
Weekend MOD rotation or nurse on call as deemed necessary
Conduct ADL flow book reviews and address concerns/omissions
! Participate in facility committees including; QI committee, ch! airperson of Fall Committee, serving as Infection Control coordinator, when directed, etc.
Responsible for assuring complete and timely incident reporting to state
Oversee Nursing Department in absence of DON and complete nursing duties as requested by the DON as needed
Oversee Walk to Dine Program
Assist DON in monitoring and managing daily PPD
May be required to provide direct patient care
Assist with in-service education as the need arises
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program
Current RN license in DE or compact state
Experience: 1-year RN experience preferred, familiar with long term care
Industry: Healthcare
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak the English language
Knowledge of caring for geriatric residents
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods at a time
Must possess a current unencumbered, ! active license to practice as RN
Ability to deal with difficult residents/families/employees
Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices/procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care
Ability to work flex schedule for nursing floor coverage when needed
