To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no ! other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospita! l will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and a new expanded Emergency Department.

Responsibility for the collection of data from medical records, logs, bedside audits and databases that support performance improvement and patient safety activities of the Nemours Cardiac Center as advised by the Safety and Performance Improvement Coordinator and other leaders of the Nemours Cardiac Center.

This position is responsible for compiling, organizing, documenting, and analyzing data to produce reports from which opportunities for quality/safety improvement, intervention and educational activities can be identified. Assists staff in continuous improvement and patient safety concepts, processes, and tools. As necessary collaborates with NCC Clinical Nurse Specialists to research and provide education on best practices. Works with associates at all levels of the Nemours Cardiac Center to design and implement data collection methodolo! gies, action plans, and reporting strategies. Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Specialists to facilitate teams as necessary to achieve performance improvement goals within the Cardiac Center.

Essential Functions

Exemplifies commitment to a quality/safety culture and continuous improvement within the Nemours Cardiac Center

Supports the NCC Safety and Performance Coordinator and other NCC leaders in the systematic collection and analysis of data to meet regulatory requirements, improve performance and safety in delivery of care to cardiac patients and participate in national benchmarking registries.

Conducts concurrent and retrospective data collection and basic analysis to evaluate and support improvement in targeted areas of performance in the multiple care settings comprising the Cardiac Center including:

CICU

Catheterization/EP Laboratory

2B Inpatient Unit

Cardiac Operating Room

Cardiac Anest! hesiology

Cardiac Outpatient Clinic

Conducts concurre! nt and retrospective data collection to support efforts to eliminate hospital acquired infections in the Nemours Cardiac Center.

Performs audits of key patient safety behaviors in multiple care settings comprising the Cardiac Center.

Compiles data into meaningful formats using forms, reports, graphs, tables, slides, and other documents to communicate results.

Assist managers and targeted teams in continuous improvement initiatives.

Participates on Cardiac Care Committee and targeted performance improvement teams within Cardiac Center.

Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.

Requirements

Registered Nurse, BSN Required

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac Inpatient Care.

Proficiency or concurrent training for Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point computer applications.

Proficiency or concurrent t! raining in continuous improvement methods

Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, preferred
