The School of Medicine has has an outstanding opportunity for a Curriculum Program Analyst to join their team.
The Curriculum Program Analyst will play a key role in providing strategic analysis and consultation that contribute to planning and decision making to ensure appropriate governance and oversight of the curriculum in Academic Affairs at the University of Washington School of Medicine. This position is dedicated to optimizing continuous quality improvement strategies for curricular accreditation through reporting of quantitative and qualitative data.
The Curriculum Program Analyst reports directly to the Director of Curriculum and works with the Associate Dean of Curriculum. This role will also routinely interact with the School of Medicine Curriculum Committee Chairs, School of Medicine deans, faculty and staff within the five state WWAMI region. The Curriculum Program Analyst facilitates critical communication between the curriculum office and the Office of Academic Affairs, the six first-year teaching sites located in Seattle, Eastern Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho and the School’s basic science and clinical faculty and staff throughout the WWAMI region.
This position works closely with the School’s administrative and academic leadership to assure compliance of the governance of the curriculum and establish the process for curriculum accreditation standards. This position will perform analysis of operational performance metrics and develop reports and visual tools for the governance committees to inform strategic planning and curricular innovation. This role involves a high degree of independent decision making, analytic and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize competing tasks. This includes serving as a critical interface with the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Curriculum, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Director of Academic and Learning Technologies, Director of Educational Evaluation for the SOM, Director of Curriculum, the Pre-Clinical Program Assistant Deans based throughout the WWAMI region, SOM curriculum chairs, faculty (both based in Seattle and outside Seattle), and the medical students on any number of complicated policy and curriculum issues. With the regional orientation of the medical school, the analyst must be flexible, service-oriented and customer-focused, able to address questions, problems, or concerns from faculty, staff and students across the WWAMI region in a professional, prompt and confidential manner. With the expansion of the medical school and related curricular challenges that lie ahead, the position will require the ability to multitask, prioritize job responsibilities, and work effectively with faculty, students and staff.
This position directly impacts the scope and quality of instruction of School of Medicine medical students during their first four years of medical school. The Curriculum Program Analyst ensures that all basic science and clinical curricula data is up-to-date, consistent with Curriculum Committee recommendations, and communicated to the Associate and Assistant Deans and faculty across the seven WWAMI teaching sites. The analyst must also ensure the accuracy and integrity of data collected so that the School of Medicine curriculum meets compliance and accreditation standards as established by Liaison Committee on Medical Education, federal, state and university regulations, and other requirements as are appropriate. If an individual without a sophisticated understanding of the information technology, specific laws, accreditation standards, and local policies and procedures is not hired to perform these job responsibilities, then the UW School of Medicine could lose its accreditation and potentially not be allowed to provide medical education for its medical students.
