Wilmington VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for one full-time permanent Staff Nurse (PACT RN Care Manager for Women's Health) position. This position is located in Primary Care. DUTIES:
The PACT RN Care Manager provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in the outpatient setting. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice. The PACT RN Care Manager demonstrates leadership when providing and improving patient care. The incumbent reports directly to the Primary Care Nurse Manager. The Primary Care Team Nurse serves as a role model when functioning as a teamlet leader under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, etc, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials.

Recent WomenÂ's Health experience preferred and recent care management/case management experience preferred.

The PACT RN Care Manager is a citizen of the United States and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with an active, current, full and unrestricted license. The incumbent is a graduate of a state approved nursing school or accredited by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). He/she has an Associate Degree or Diploma and approximately two to three years of successful nursing practice or has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with two to three years of successful nursing practice; or a master's degree in nursing with one to two years of successful nursing practice; or a master's degree in a field related to nursing and a BSN from an accredited or state approved school of nursing with one to two years of successful nursing practice; or a doctoral degree in nursing or related field. He/she has the physical and mental capability to satisfactorily perform assigned duties. BLS is required.

In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Must be proficient in spoken and written English .

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.
