To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansio! n to create a children's hospital like no other in the region.! Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
Registered Nurse with responsibilities for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department, as well as the implementation of unit programs to improve the quality of care delivered. Serves as a role model as an educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher and leader to promote the professional growth of peers and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Utilizes principles of adult learning to assess and analyze the educational needs of professional nurses, identify educational objectives, plan and implement educational activities, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of educational activities.
Presents and coordinates the competency-based orientation program and revises curriculum based on program outcomes, learner needs and current nursing p! ractice.
Maintains professional practice knowledge base, including departmental and organizational policies, standards of care, and procedures.
Participates in and uses evidence-based research to identify strategies to improve professional development activities, nursing practice and patient outcomes.
Designs nursing education curriculum and programs based on a variety of sources, such as quality outcomes, trends and changes in nursing practice.
Provides consultation and resources to Nurse Managers, Nurse Leaders and staff of the patient care areas and collaborates to identify learning needs.
Documents aspects of learning activities in compliance with departmental, organizational and external agency requirements.
Utilizes skilled oral, written and electronic communication to communicate effectively and to foster collegial relationships both intra- and interdepartmentally.
Models professional behaviors including ! involvement in professional organizations, engagement in lifelong learn! ing activities, dissemination of information through publications and presentations, and involvement in nursing research activities.
Demonstrates clinical expertise through research, demonstration, observation and teaching of clinical skills.
Additional Responsibilites
Presents programs that relate to clinical performance to all shifts of nursing staff.
Maintains resources and equipment within the department and utilizes them to assess, support and advance clinical practice.
Integrates ethical principles into the practice of nursing professional development.
Demonstrates clinical and cultural competence in the care of patients of all ages: neonates, children, adolescents and adults.
Obtains and/or maintains current BLS Instructor status.
Requirements
Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse licensure required.
National certification in Professional Development and/or nursing! specialty certification relevant to patient population.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required.
Master's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
