We are currently seeking an Infection Control Nurse for The Delores Baylor Women's Correctional Institution, located in New Castle, DE. This is a full time position, working 40 hours per week - day shift.
The Infection Control Nurse serves as lea! der, mentor and role model for the infection control program, ! and maintains a knowledge base of current infection prevention and control information. The Infection Control Nurse serves as the liaison with the Department of Corrections surrounding infection control issues and as chairperson for a multi-disciplinary infection control committee. He/she provides professional education for health care, correctional and other staff as required maintaining an effective infection control program.
Essential Functions:
: Establishes and maintains the site Infection Control Program
: Assist with patient care, utilization management and other job responsibilities as assigned by Director of Nursing
: Maintains a knowledge base of current infection prevention and control information through peer networking, published literature, professional meetings and other avenues as available.
: Shares knowledge and skills with others and brings creativity and innovation to practice
: Makes decisions and ! performs activities in an ethical manner
: Respond to a code or health emergency within standard guidelines
Qualifications:
: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, Baccalaureate degree preferred
: Experience Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfecting/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and epidemiology
: Attends a basic infection control training course within the first year of entering the profession preferred
: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience preferred
: Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program experience a plus
: Must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state
: Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
