Activities Aide - Part Time
Assists in planning, developing, and coordination of appropriate social, physical, mental and educational activities to enhance and promote the therapeutic goals of holistic programs for nursing home residents. Will be responsible for care plan documentation and progress notes. Will be responsible for running and coordination of group and individual activities.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the Franciscan Care Centers Mission and core values by:
1. Assist in planning the monthly activity calendar.
2. Implements planned activities daily.
3. Transports residents to and from activities.
4. Works as part of the interdisciplinary team to promote holistic health care for each resident.
5. Documents individual progress for all designed activities.
6. Assists with the voting process during election time.
7. Has a current valid drivers license.
8. Capable of pushing residents in wheel chairs.
9. Assist in delivery of the newspaper and mail daily.
10. Reports significant attitudes and behaviors of residents during activities to their charge nurse or nursing supervisor.
11. Assist in notifying other departments who might be involved with the particular event/activity, i.e. writing up dietary requests, assisting with the van schedule etc.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. High School diploma or its equivalent. Certification as an Activity Assistant preferred.
2. Prior experience working with the older population and knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation
3. Requires light physical effort on a regular basis , as in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items. (up to 30 lbs.) Pushing/pulling wheelchairs and geri-chairs.
