Extending the world-class care of the duPont Hospital for Children, the Nemours Children’s Clinic provides expert care for even more children across the Delaware Valley through community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems.

To meet the needs of even more children, the duPont Hospital for Children will be expanding our pediatric intensive care unit with state-of-the-art technology. We will be breaking ground on a new inpatient pavilion that will include all private patient rooms, an expanded Emergency Department and patient family amenities.

This position is responsible for directing the development, implementation and evaluation of a program of nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice that is clinically based, aligned with Nemours Research Strategy, and developed in collaboration with nurses and other health care providers and researchers. This individual is expected to have a program of research funded by the NIH and/or other national large-scale funding sources, as well as be successful at mentoring nurse scholars in the research process, including the process of obtaining funding. This individual is responsible for increasing the knowledge and skills of nursing staff related to the research process and implementing strategies to communicate nursing research activities throughout the Nemours/duPont Hospital for Children.

Essential Functions

Engages in the conduct of sustainable outside funded clinical research at a significant percent of effort.

Engages in collaborative research across the enterprise and promotes interdisciplinary research.

Monitors literature for studies relevant to specialty practice and outcomes of care or with specific administrative or implementation science relevance.

Educates and mentors nurses regarding the conduct of research, poster presentation and publication.

Contributes to external peer-reviewed publications and internal publications and develops creative strategies to disseminate nursing research to nursing staff and other appropriate personnel.

Mentors Nurse Managers, Advanced Practice Nurses and Nurse Associates to evaluate and apply appropriate nursing research in their areas of responsibility.

Promotes a professional practice environment by fostering a spirit of inquiry, scholarly activity, evidence-based practice and research utilization.

Provides leadership for the Nursing Research Committee and represents Nursing on various Nemours Research boards and committees. Participates in appropriate professional organizations.

Requirements

Registered Nurse with Ph.D.

Excellent grant writing skills.

Proven ability to obtain external funding.

Successful in completing research projects and building a program of research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and mentoring colleagues.

Must have the ability to work well with others.

Regular attendance is required.

Good communications skills are required.

Have a current registration or be eligible for Delaware State Board of Nursing Licensure.
