To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in October 2014, the hospital will include private patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.

Functioning in accordance with objectives and established protocols and under the supervision of a physician, serves as a Registered Nurse in the Employee Health Department. Utilizing the nursing process, is responsible f! or providing an employee health services system that ensures a safe and healthy workforce is maintained. This position reports to the Medical Director for medical direction and to the HR Operations Manager, through the Employee Health Coordinator, for administrative management. The hours for this position can be flexible, but will need to meet the needs of the Employee Health area as well. The ability for a job share match would possibly be an option as well.

Evaluates pre-employment or participation laboratory results and provides appropriate notification to employees/participants.

Discusses laboratory and health screening results with employees/participants. Provides appropriate referrals as necessary.

In conjunction with departmental staff and the Medical Director, coordinates the documentation, medical certification and approval/denial of medical leave of absence requests. Monitors and coordinates the ongoing administration of medical leaves. !

Evaluates employees desiring to return to work after a leave o! f absence (following written consent to return to work from their personal physicians) or occupational injury, in order to determine any medical limitations. Coordinates employee return to work requirements with Supervisors, Risk Management and HR Business Partners as required.

Examines employees, participants, visitors and vendors who are injured on the job or on hospital property and refers them for follow-up treatment as necessary.

Initiates blood/body fluid and meningococcal exposure protocols and continues follow-up for one year in accordance with policy.

Orders laboratory tests, x-ray studies and other diagnostic services as necessary in order to determine job performance capabilities and to rule out contagious diseases.

Examines and treats minor illnesses and injuries within the established guidelines and protocols and not exceeding the scope of practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing.

Complies with Employee H! ealth policies and protocols to address such areas as services provided in Employee Health, employee counseling and treatment with prescription medications (when co-signed by the Medical Director).

Maintains health service records relating to the number of employees seen, types of visits, drugs dispensed, referrals and infectious diseases identified. Prepares and distributes associated reports and analyses.

Prepares and maintains health service records on employees/participants in accordance with policies/regulations.

Ensures maintenance of equipment and examination rooms. Maintains and documents point of care testing (POCT) and emergency equipment checks in the appropriate time frame per policy and procedure.

Ensures appropriate medical inventory levels by ordering and stocking supplies, medications and vaccines as necessary.

Develops, maintains and delivers wellness programs that provide education and continuing health improvem! ent.

Utilizes the Employee Assistance Program to assist employ! ees with dependencies and/or other stresses.

Assists and regulates compliance with OSHA occupational health surveillance programs and regulations.

Tracks data regarding Employee Health initiatives to meet quality standards and assists with quality system reviews.

Assists with the development/revision of Employee Health policies.

Provides assistance to the Human Resources Department by providing appropriate information and literature to inquiring potential and existing employees.

Assists with department-specific training educational programs regarding toxic substances used in the Employee Health Service.

Requirements

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate's degree in Nursing or diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Two years experience in employee or occupational health preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail;! ability to master internal HRIS and associated computer systems.

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

Licensure to practice nursing in the state of Delaware.

COHN certification preferred.

CPR-certified with the American Heart Association.
